The Problem
A tech company in a converted brick-and-beam building in Liberty Village found a crack running across one panel of its glass boardroom wall. The wall was a row of 12mm tempered panels in aluminium U-channels, each with a frosted privacy band at seated eye level. A chair had been pushed into the edge one too many times.
The facilities manager needed the room back quickly. It was the only space big enough for client meetings.

Making It Safe and Measuring
The crew came on Monday morning, covered the cracked panel with protective film so it could not fall apart, and taped off the area. We measured the panel and channel depth, read the stamp to confirm 12mm tempered with polished edges, and recorded the position, height and finish of the frosted band.
Materials
- One 12mm clear tempered panel, CSA A440, all edges polished
- Frosted privacy film matched to the existing band height and finish
- New dry-joint glazing tape for the channels

Timeline
| Step | When |
|---|---|
| Panel made safe, measured | Monday morning |
| Glass ordered | Monday afternoon |
| Install, after hours | Thursday, 7pm-10pm |
| Room back in use | Friday morning |
Our crew installed the panel on Thursday evening after staff had left. Drop sheets went down from the freight elevator to the boardroom, the old panel came out, the new one went in, and the film was applied on site.
Final Cost
$1,450 CAD, including the panel, film, after-hours labour and disposal. The alternative quote the client had received was to rebuild the whole wall. Nobody on the floor noticed the swap the next morning, and the work carries our written 2-year workmanship warranty.
