The Problem
A Rosedale homeowner was refreshing her ensuite with new white marble tile. The existing frameless shower was in decent shape, but it was standard float glass, and against the new marble the green edge of the 10mm panels stood out badly. She wanted the glass to disappear.

Design and Template
The layout was a 30-inch door with a fixed panel inline on a sloped marble curb. We removed the old enclosure before the tilers started, then came back once the tile was finished to laser-template the opening. The back wall was 4mm out of plumb over its height, which the template captured so the fixed panel would follow it.

Materials
- 10mm Starphire low-iron tempered glass, CSA A440, all edges polished
- Dorma wall-to-glass hinges and clamps in polished nickel to match the faucets
- Clear door sweep and magnetic seal
- Dow Corning 795 wet perimeter

Final Cost
$2,850 CAD installed, including removal of the old enclosure, templating, Starphire glass, Dorma hardware and the wet perimeter seal. Our crew installed the door and panel in about four hours and water-tested it before leaving.
The homeowner’s review summed it up: the low-iron clarity is noticeable, and the Dorma hinges feel like a bank vault. The enclosure carries our written 2-year workmanship and hardware warranty.
